Below is a list featuring a selection of recent concerts The Coupland Brass Quintet has performed, as well notice of some of our future gigs (not including private functions and parties).

Future Performances 15th May 2008 Flixton House, Flixton Road Urmston, Trafford, Manchester Following our well received pre-Christmas concert here in December, we are happy to be returning to provide another evening of Brass entertainment. 24th May 2008 St. Mary's Parish Church Wirksworth, Derbyshire We are very much looking forward to returning once more to Wirksworth to give a concert in this splendid church. Tickets: £7.50 - includes refreshments Past Performances 15th February 2008 Lostock Hall Community Primary School Preston We provided two short concerts for the pupils at this school, as part of their Creative Arts Week. Programme: The theme was British, so everything from Handel's Water Music to Ron Goodwin's 633 Squadron. 25th January 2008 Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester We were invited back to the theatre to provide another musical assortment for their Special FX evening. Programme: 1920's/30s was the theme on this occasion, so our programme featured Charlstons and Quick Steps, alongside Debussy and Joplin. 21st December 2007 Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester Our third visit to the theatre this year, providing Christmas music for their Special FX event. Programme: Christmas carols and arrangement of famous Christmas melodies. 20th December 2007 Flixton House, Trafford, Manchester Part of our Christmas season concerts, this was an evening recital given to a lovely crowd at Filxton House. Programme: Christmas carols and light brass repertoire. 19th October 2007 Oldham An evening recital given for a group of regular concert go-ers at a church in Oldham. Programme: A selection of brass music, from Janacek and Mathias, to Puccini and Scheidt. September and October 2007 Liverpool, Manchester, Cheshire, Derby, West Midlands Providing music for Cancer Research UK 10K runs at various locations across the North West and Midlands. Programme: Our job was to spur on the runners as they reached the latter stages of their 10k runs. The theme from Rocky always went down well. 28th September 2007 Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester Special FX event. Programme: To tie in with the show playing at the theatre (Henry V), we providing music along similar themes. 27th July 2007 Richmond, North Yorkshire A wedding, providing music in the fabulous gardens at Millgate House, in the glorious sunshine. Programme: We played a selection of music to celebrate the couple's happy day. 5th July 2007 KMI Plus Barley Water Treatment Works, Burnley Providing music for to celebrate the opening of this new Water Treatment Works. Programme: Various pieces of music, some of which had a water theme... 1st April 2007 Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester Providing music for the Royal Exchange Theatre's Open Day. Programme: Background music to keep the crowds entertained. We were also filmed for the BBC's Street Doctor programme, which aired several months later! 20th February 2007 Lowry Hotel, Manchester A private function - the launch of a new hay-fever treatment. Programme: A variety of light pieces, trying to give the impression of a classic British summer, in mid February! 10th February 2007 - 7.30pm Church of St. Stephen with St. John Rochester Row, London SW1 We were honoured to be the special guests of the Oriana Ensemble at this concert of all English music, to raise money for Cancer Research UK Programme: A selection of English music for both orchestral forces and brass quintet. 10th February 2007 - 2.30pm St. Alfege's Church Greenwich, London A delightful church in Greenwich playing a programme of interesting and exciting brass music, both old and new. Programme: A selection of English music. 21st July 2006 - 7.15pm Haddon Hall Bakewell, Derbyshire A private function for Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport. Programme: Enjoyable and relaxing background music for a delightful setting on a perfect summer's evening. 12th June 2006 - 7.30pm St. Michael's and All Angels Church Church Broughton, Derbyshire Part of our second mini tour of the UK. Programme: A fun and challenging (for the audience as well as the performers!) programme, featuring Gregson's Equale Dances, Ewald's Quintet No. 1 in Bb minor, new arrangement of music by Trabaci and Vizzutti's Prelude and Presto. 10th June 2006 - 7.30pm Wesley Chapel Harrogate, North Yorkshire Part of our second mini tour of the UK. Programme: A varied range of brass music [ as above, for 12th June concert ]. 9th June 2006 - 7.30pm St. Mary's Parish Church Wirksworth, Derbyshire Part of our second mini tour of the UK. Programme: A varied range of brass music [ as above, for 12th June concert ]. 26th May 2006 - 12.30pm Bury Parish Church Greater Manchester Our second lunchtime concert at this fabulous church. Programme: Gregson Equale Dances alongside a variety of music written or arranged for brass spanning 500 years, including Previn Four Outings for Brass - first movement. 29th April 2006 - 12.00 noon Bridgeford Street Car Park The University of Manchester Part of a concert of new works written to celebrate the opening of the new car park. Programme: A world premiere of John King's new work, written especially for us, which utilises the space and idea of the car park. 28th April 2006 - 9.30am St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Sale Two morning workshops: one for the juniors and one for the infants. Programme: A fun and exciting range of brass music, highlighting certain players and instruments in the group. 10th April 2006 - 6.30pm Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institution Appleton Thorn, Warrington As part of the Hallé's education project, Hallé4Brass, already running in Thorn Cross, we provided an evening concert playing alongside some of the inmate students. Programme: Music to show what brass instruments can do, music to provoke some of the inmates into listening to other sorts of music and music alongside some of the learners, such as The Great Escape. 25th February 2006 - 7.30pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The Martin Harris Building, The University of Manchester Part of The University Brass Ensemble's main concert of the year, featuring the 10-piece brass ensemble and a number of smaller groups. Programme: A variety of music of all ages will be performed by various groups during the evening. The Coupland Brass Quintet's section of the programme is not yet confirmed. Tickets: £8 for adults, £5 for concessions, £3 for students. 24th February 2006 - 2.00pm Department of Music The University of Exeter An afternoon workshop for composition students at The University of Exeter. Programme: We will be playing through and offering advice and comments on works written by students studying at The University of Exeter. 24th February 2006 - 1.10pm Department of Music The University of Exeter A lunchtime concert of brass music, featuring several important works written for brass quintet, particularly in the last 60 years. Concert to be followed by an afternoon workshop of works by composers at the music department of the university. Programme: A range of pieces written for brass quintet, focusing on more modern repertoire. Tickets: Entry is free! 24th February 2006 - 10.15am King's Hall School Kingston Road, Taunton An education workshop for a group of 200 children at King's Hall, Taunton. Programme: Pieces to show off each instrument in the quintet, to tell the children a little about various styles of music and how we play brass instruments. 23rd February 2006 - 7.30pm St Michael and All Angels Church, Mount Dinham Exeter, Devon An evening concert in this spectacular church, boasting the accolade of "the best acoustic in Exeter", featuring a selection of brass music, old and new. Programme: A range of pieces from our repertoire, from early music suited perfectly to the acoustics and atmosphere of the church, to modern compositions, including some lighter entertainment pieces. Tickets: £4 for adults, under 18s get in for free. 10th February 2006 - 12.30pm Bury Parish Church Greater Manchester A lunchtime concert featuring a selection of brass music, old and new. Programme: Previn Four Outings for Brass - movement four, Ewald Brass Quintet No. 1 in Bb Minor, Puccini, Bernstein and a variety of brass music, old and new. 25th November 2005 - 1.10pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The Martin Harris Building, The University of Manchester A Manchester University Music Society Lunchtime Concert. Programme: Vizzutti Prelude and Presto, Plog Four Sketches, Bach and Schumann. 17th June 2005 - 7.30pm South Street Baptist Church Exeter, Devon Part of our 2005 UK mini-tour. Programme: A wide range of brass music, from Dufay's Pasce Tuos and Scheidt's Ceremonial Suite, to Debussy and Janacek, with Arnold's Quintet No. 1 and Mathias's Summer Dances being performed. 16th June 2005 - 7.30pm St. Michael's and All Angels Church Church Broughton, Derbyshire Part of our 2005 UK mini-tour. Programme: A wide range of brass music [ as above, for 17th June 2005 concert ]. 15th June 2005 The Whitworth Hall The University of Manchester A private function for The School of Nursing at The University of Manchester. Programme: A wide range of brass music [ as above, for 17th June 2005 concert ]. 9th June 2005 - 1.30pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The Martin Harris Building, The University of Manchester Part of Manchester University Music Society's 2005 Estival Festival. Programme: A short but fun programme, including a movement from Ewald's Quintet No. 3. 30th April 2005 Harrogate, North Yorkshire A short performance and background music for a private party. Programme: Light entertainment pieces. 15th April 2005 Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The Martin Harris Building, The University of Manchester Performance at the Honorary Degree Ceremony for The Lindsay String Quartet, presided over by the Chancellor of the University and BBC Newsreader, Anna Ford (who said of us, "All these lovely brass players"). Programme: We were providing pre-ceremony music, processional and recessional music. 14th March 2005 - 1.30pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The assessed chamber music recital for Kathyrn, our horn player. Programme: Lutoslawski Mini Overture and Bourgeois Sonata for Brass Quintet. 3rd March 2005 - 1.10pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall Part of the Student Showcase Lunchtime Concert, presented by the Department of Music. Programme: Arnold Quintet No. 1. 8th June 2004 - 7.30pm Church of The Holy Name Oxford Road, Manchester Part of a concert given by Ad Solem - The University of Manchester Chamber Choir - as part of Manchester University Music Society's 2004 Estival Festival. Programme: Gabrieli Conzona per sonare Nos. 1, 2 & 3, along with other early music. 8th June 2004 - 1.00pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall Part of Manchester University Music Society's 2004 Estival Festival. Programme: A fun summer concert with music by Debussy, Grainger, Mathias, Janacek and Gershwin. 15th May 2004 - 3.00pm The Whitworth Art Gallery Oxford Road, Manchester A concert played in the cultural surroundings of The Whitworth Art Gallery. Programme: The world premiere of Chris Lydon's composition You Can Never Have Too Much Of A Good Thing, along with other 20th and 21st Century works, and pieces by Bach and Scheidt. 25th March 2004 - 7.30pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall Part of The University Brass Ensemble's concert. Programme: Bourgeois Sontata for Brass Quintet. 16th March 2004 - 1.30pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall The assessed chamber music recital for four members of the quintet. Programme: Scheidt Battle Suite, Debussy La fille aux cheveux de lin and Arnold Brass Quintet No. 1. 9th March 2004 - 1.10pm Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall A Manchester University Music Society Lunchtime Concert. Programme: Our first public concert, given as preparation for our recital on 16th March [ see above for programme ].
