Kathryn Allnutt comes from Crediton, Devon and is in her third and final year at The University of Manchester
studying music. She is currently taught by Dicky Bourne of the Hallé Orchestra, Manchester.
Previous to this, she has studied with Russell Hayward and, whilst a music scholar at St Margaret’s School Exeter,
with Simon de Souza. Performance is one of Kathryn’s major module choices for her final year, and she currently plays
with many ensembles within the University, including the symphony orchestra, Sinfonietta (chamber orchestra) and New Music Ensemble.
Kathryn has played in several national and regional ensembles, including the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain in 2002
and principal horn of the National Children’s Wind Ensemble in 2001. In June 2005, Kathryn was one of only two UK participants chosen
to play in the international Lutoslawski Youth Orchestra in Warsaw, Poland under the directorship of Heinz Holliger.
She will continue her horn studies next year at postgraduate level at Trinity College, London.
